I have a weakness for dead trees
Or at least ones that are sleeping — Naked they put humans in a reflective mood
Clothed — we realize how daunting photosynthesis is
Animism isn’t more popular — because it tends to put humans in their place — besides we don’t want to atone for it all:

VERSE OF ATONEMENT

All evil karma ever committed
by me since of old,
On account of my beginningless
greed, anger, and ignorance,
Born of my body, mouth, and thought,
Now I atone for it all

We pretend we can still hold water when everything turns to dust
Maybe we can — But first — let’s learn the lesson of trees — dancing
Naked — clothed — cut — covered — no ignorance — nothing to atone for — everything just as it is,

Well, y’all, the Solstice rolled through me, and I feel like a different person today. How about you?

Awoke this morning, birds were working it.

"It's back down to darkness after all."

Trees were my earliest glimpse into the sentient nature of all life. Trees are great story tellers.
