Because I love this picture — I use it again — Part of me worries how you’ll react

The semi-permanent stories we tell — are less impactful than the new configurations — although there are narrative rules for even the most outlandish transgressions

Even though — we follow familiar paths — it would be a shame if we abandoned revelation — exploration

Do we know when we are marked? After all — the closest star must be aligned in a particular way to see it

The first — of many storms — is promised tonight — all those temporary signs and signals buried

Thus the kings of antiquity closed the passes — At the time of solstice — Merchants and strangers did not go about — And the ruler — Did not travel through the provinces

Don’t take our word for it — We’re unreliable narrators — as are you

Maybe we’re unable to understand this — although we sense the shape of it

When we try to grab it — it scurries away
