It wouldn’t, rather it could/would consume you. But when you’re a one-man-show, it’s all a necessary part of the process. So much appears to be collaboration: “Let’s go into the writers’ room …” (Now, follow the tour guide into the writers’ room and observe the enormous conference table with twenty writers seated around it all working on the next episode.) In my own case, I don’t see all of those things you mention as distractions, because I’m not prolific, as so many seem to be, when it comes to creating art. I see the ancillary tasks as somewhat interesting (to a point) and rewarding.

I find I’m often using a more accurate, direct, appropriate term, calling it what it is: lies.
