We dreamed the
motion of
remembering
enlightenment, an old 
teacher smiled, acknowledged
later, came over, we were
trying to return

He said stop
indicating the room
we were in, the houses
and roads, all the plants
and beasts and gods
who having traveled
the road of evolution 
have arrived 

HERE

to share
this moment 
in this little temporary
chapel, with its rooms
buildings, roads, valleys
mountains, big/little
forests, fields 
Goldilocks atmospheres 
in the larger neighborhood
suns, moons, stars explode/
implode, the unknowable
exoplanets who can be described
but never walked, except

their night streets, their fecund ghettos
their sterile status statistics
their non anthropomorphized sense 
of belonging 
their loves, their loss, their cooperations
their rivalries, their triumphs 
their glories, their ecstasies, their birth rights
their exotic to us, but normal to them
collections of ideas they call a culture
their ideas of self, ideas of seeking
ideas of wanting, ideas of getting
the permeable pores of skin, the
permeability of time, of space 

they are here too 
right now, defying our imagination
