**I need a better name for ‘this’ than existential crises**

**Years ago I deeply admired those who took to bed for an extended period like Mallarme or those who took to an asylum after a nervous breakdown**

Peek-a-boo
Con/Jur/d, 6/29/2023

This morning a few days after
      the planet tilted its northern
face to the sun, peak exposure

and somehow, we thought enlightenment
was thinking better thoughts
             a permanence of objects

a persistence of subject, unchanging
                     amidst the entropic ebb
                                the impermanent flow

Being is clever
   hiding behind the bright red Cardinal
on white asian pear blossoms

saying look look look
             at these fingers

confused by the pointing,
             the sudden boo
                        startles us
           
           
tears, delighted laughter

**This is not to say I don’t stay busy — like small-scale UFO hunting rather than the large-scale scalar spotting**

**Sometimes everything becomes a painting**

**Tying together our moments of silence**

**Sometimes — it all becomes a psychedelic jungle of colors — overwhelming — we forget about the deep silence**

**Although — it doesn’t forget about us**

Well y’all — we think that’s a pretty good summary of their week
