“Word of the day is 'misken' (15th century): to refuse to recognize something by pretending it's not happening” Susie Dent
What a marvelous word — MISKEN
Wrote a poem today while walking through the cemetery around this marvelous disorder — a disorder that has become normalized — part of what it means to grow up in our simulation of civilization
I doubt you’ll ever see it — far too preachy — knowing you — the poem’s absence with the title ‘Misken’ — will produce a far more powerful piece — in your own voice — I wish I could read it
In way of a prompt — besides the obvious pretending it’s not happening — ask yourself — “If we’re just passing through, why do we put up with what we do?”
If we’re just passing through, why do we put up with what we do?
Misken
