gate(less) is a practice, a log, an indulgence, spellwork, meditation, and an invitation to explore and experience the ecstatic adventure of every day. Join us to explore strange new worlds right outside your gate/door
11 years ago on this day 11/11/11 — I attended an 11:11 party — which was the seed of my current karmas
I find myself giving advice on how to deal with madness — remembering those times I thought myself a Crow among Squirrels — Only to realize later — I was the squirrelliest of all
What a strange world we have arrived in since then — everything barcoded — the Anthropocene eating away at the foundations of everything familiar
On any given day — if the gate is open or closed — seems random — or at least subject to the whims of miscreants and creative anarchists
One of my favorite performative diners lives on the other side of the aforementioned park
On the other side or the other side of the aforementioned — where the crows gather in their murders — is the cemetery I most often walk
There is a hole in the fence between the park and the cemetery — and if the park is open — a nice — private shortcut between various universes
Today’s assignment — if you choose to accept it — is to identify the shortcuts you use in your own life to travel between universes
Music is a definite portal for me, pieces like the wonderful track at the end of your post, Stars Of The Lid, Loscil, Forrest Fang, Scanner: wordless, suggestive, receding then coming to the forefront.
And then there's meditation. Is the mind that's watching the same mind as the one that needs calming? And what about the one guiltily coming awake when the teacher sounds the bell...?!
Falling asleep, by accident or by design, takes me to a place where squirrelified is definitely a real word ;-)
How it all works
Well this stack is the shortcut I use between my immediate reality and the metaphysical reality. Does that count?
Second what Visc. said.
