When we started to work with the Orisha and my mother was still alive —

We gave her a copy of Macumba: Mother of the Gods — thinking it would help her understand —

ALTHOUGH WE WERE CLEAR WE DIDN’T DO ANIMAL SACRIFICE — SHE WAS A BIT HORRIFIED

We said — Mamina what about all the Latvian Rooster iconography — that was sacrifice to the gods wasn’t it? — No Jurite it wasn’t — she insisted

A few days later — she called us back to apologize — she had done some research and just like Eleggua — roosters had been sacrificed at the crossroads

The spirit of communication needs to be fed

Part of why we started gate(less) as suggested by Briffin’s comment yesterday — is to turn the gate(less) cohort into curators of their own wonder — and to remind us — that there is an ancient — ur - infrastructure beneath our extremely shallow modern POV — while we were composing the above this began to spontaneously play:
