When I got divorced I plunged into sadness

It covered me from head to toe — eventually — I gave up — and sank below the waves

After a while — I realized I was grieving the loss of a promised future — one belonging to someone else — someone who didn’t exist anymore

It took me far too long to understand — down into our bones — our responsibility for everything

Of course — we were lucky — some never figure it out or forget to renew their license

Canceled my trip to California today

I hope to see my family & friends soon and in safer circumstances

A shout-out to my brother and daughter — love you both

And all of you — no matter what your circumstance

Just remember the future you is uncertain — the only one of us who we are responsible for is the one presently present
