Took a nap
beneath the felt red
blanket, after dodging
deer, no longer fawn
whose white tail puffs
yellowed frozen eyes, 
bounce away, frequently
under  headlight

gaze

the dirtied green
of an early Fall forest 
reds/brown serrated
highlights, in the dream
we composed this poem 
at a sandy picnic table
boats up and down
birds circle make
black outlines, cloudless
blinding sparkles refract
water  around, this
fat island frame

You, never have seen
such a brilliant color
all the way 
from vaunt 
to the

deep/deep

vastness.

for food, shelter, survival
and play, we realized, we

were more interested in 
inevitable futures, than the
painfully banal, curated 
boredom our deluded
Leadership has manifested

given the miracle of 
something-rather-than-nothing

why would we choose
to claim foreknowledge
of such a sloppy 
                          selection?
